Default GW Disconnects

My wife & I have been getting lots of GW disconnects lately. I was wondering if our issue may be the phone cord we're using to connect. It's a regular cord (as far as I know), but about 15 feet between the jack and the modem. Would this cause any connection issues for us? We recently moved our PCs and the longer cord is all that I can think of that's changed. Thanks.

I thought about that, but it said it was at 11:00pm PDT (Pacific time, correct?). Our issues were happening around 8-9pm Eastern US time, at good 5-6 hours before the maintance. Granted, Monday Oct 23 was the worst so far, but it has been happening enough to really annoy us.

hmm well it seems you are usng 56k right? but i dont see how it could be anything else except for the cord unless you made a mistake in reading the time of maintenance

I guess I didn't specify, we use Verizon DSL, hooked into a modem-router. The only thing that's changed was the distance between the phone jack and the modem itself. I know I was in bed well before 11 Pacific time (2am Eastern), unless they started the maintence early.

Well, I used to have a similar problem with my wireless connection, but I don't see how the wire could be the problem. If it were a faulty wire, then my guess would be that you wouldn't have internet connection at all.

So, you could try a new wire, but it might not be the cause.
